4 Fun Free Things to do in February

Feb 1, 2016, 07:01 AM by Discount Autoglass

February is all about love. While some of us might be looking for the perfect place to have dinner on Valentine’s Day, some people are seeking unique ways to spend time with our loved ones throughout the wonderful state of Arkansas. The Discount Auto Glass team thought February would be the perfect time to talk about how much we love our state and the activities we can do here. Since we have seven locations in Arkansas, we know the place pretty well. Here are four activities across the state you can do with your family, friends and loved ones during the month of February.

SoMa Mardi Gras on Main Street 2016 – Let the good times roll during the parade through Little Rock’s South Main district. Spend an afternoon in the downtown area with your family and enjoy this free event with live music and puppets for the kids. The parade begins at noon on February 6 at 1300 South Main St. in Little Rock.

bald-eagle - dardanelleEagle Tour on Lake Dardanelle – Free tours are given each year on Lake Dardanelle for the public to have an opportunity to see bald eagles along with other winter birds throughout the month of February in Russellville. You can make reservations for the tours at the visitor center by calling (479) 967-5516. The tours start taking place on February 3, and continue throughout the month. Bundle up, because the temperatures could dip a little lower while out on the water.

Wild Women Wednesday – Do you and your girlfriends need something fun to do together? On Wild Women Wednesday, Park Interpreter Gillian and members of Central Arkansas Master Naturalists will host a ladies hike on Pinnacle Mountain. The hike begins at 3 p.m. on February 3 and ends at 5 p.m. These hikes are part of the Women’s Hiking Winter Series, which is every Wednesday from 3-5 p.m. through March. More information is available by calling or emailing the Park Superintendent at (501) 868-5806 or [email protected].

Petit_Jean - waterfallCedar Falls – Take a trip up to Petit Jean State Park to take a look at the “best known natural waterfall” in Arkansas, according to Arkansas.com. This waterfall is 95 feet tall and can be accessed by hiking the Cedar Falls Trail. The hike is a little over two miles, but the views are completely worth it. Pick one of those “warmer-than-usual” February days and take the family up to Petit Jean.
