Summer is officially in full swing, and our vacation days are burning a hole in our pocket. What do you do if you want to get away, but not spend a fortune? Now that gas prices are lower than they’ve been in a few years, an Arkansas road trip won’t break the bank. Lucky for us, the state of Arkansas has tons of beautiful scenery and adventure that is just one tank of gas away. We want to encourage you to leave your electronics behind and enjoy the scenery and beauty that the state of Arkansas has to offer. If you need some ideas, the Discount Auto Glass crew has got you covered! We’ve put together a list of a few one-tank trips that you and your family could take this summer.

Buffalo RiverBuffalo National River State Park
: Arkansas’ own Buffalo National River was designated as the United States’ first National River in 1972.  Since then, Arkansans have canoed, swam, boated and kayaked all through this beautiful river. A day float trip is only about two hours away from Little Rock. Float trips can be as short as two hours or can last a few days. Campsites and cabins are available if you want to make a weekend out of it. The possibilities are endless. More information about the Buffalo National River is available here.

Mount Magazine State Park:
Mount Magazine, in Paris, Ark., is Arkansas’ tallest mountain and has some of the best hiking in the state. There are 14.2 miles of trails in this state park. Trails range in length and level and can be tackled by foot, ATV, horse or bike. If you want to hike, it’s best to go early in the day, so the temperatures are lower. Mount Magazine is about a two to two and a half hour trip from Little Rock. It is well worth the trip! (Photo by: Kelly DeLay)

Hot SpringsHot Springs National Park: There are tons of things to do in Hot Springs. Whether it’s taking in the beautiful views of the mountains, screaming as you descend on the Arkansas Twister at Magic Springs, or relaxing at a spa, Hot Springs has plenty to offer.  Hot Springs is less than an hour away from Little Rock. If you’re bringing the kids along, stop by Magic Springs for water rides, roller coasters and concerts, but if you’re heading there for a romantic weekend away, check out the historical Arlington Resort Hotel & Spa.
