Summertime is in full swing, and that means you can expect mud, dirt, bugs and other debris all over your windshield fairly often. The good news is that there are several things you can do to protect your auto glass and keep it sparkling clean all season long! Take a look at our quick and easy tips for cleaning the glass on your vehicle this summer.

Cleaning Your Auto Glass

While it may not be exciting, it only takes a few minutes out of your week or month to make sure your glass is looking good. When it comes to keeping your auto glass shining, we suggest:

  • Cleaning in the shade. It’s best to clean your windows on a cloudy day, or out of direct sunlight at the very least. This will prevent your cleaner from drying on the surface and leaving marks.

  • Using the correct motion. Use a microfiber cloth and up-and-down motion to avoid streaks.

  • Remembering inner glass. Don’t forget to clean your glass from inside the car as well. Spray the microfiber cloth before wiping down your glass to avoid spraying your dashboard and seats.

  • Choosing the right cleaner. Make sure it’s ammonia-free and streak-free for the best results.

  • Rolling down the windows half-way. This will allow you to clean the edges of the glass at the top.

Taking Care of Your Wipers

Dirt can get trapped under the surface of your windshield wipers, so it’s important to clean them regularly. If your wiper blades are damaged or worn out, they can also cause streaking and smearing when you use them. It’s best to replace your windshield wipers every six months to a year to ensure clean glass and prevent unnecessary damage.
