It’s the first month of summer, and you know what that means...a trip to the Buffalo River is a must! Whether you’re ready to canoe, kayak, camp, hike, or all of the above, the Buffalo River is a gorgeous Arkansas staple that the whole family will love. Get ready to hit the road, and take a look at some of our tips for a wonderful trip to the Buffalo:

Floating

Bust out your boats (or rafts) and prepare for beautiful scenery, cool water, and memories you’ll treasure for a lifetime. Floating the Buffalo River is a summertime favorite that Arkansans and visitors alike look forward to each year. Be sure to choose which areas of the river you plan to enter and exit, and arrange a shuttle if needed. You can choose a short float that’ll only last a few hours, or set out on an all-day float. Feel free to stop, swim, enjoy lunch, and soak up some sun throughout your adventure.

Hiking

Discover all of the amazing trails around the Buffalo River this summer! If paddling isn’t your thing, set out on foot and feast your eyes on greenery, waterfalls, stunning rock formations, and much more! Be sure to check out how difficult a trail is before you plan to hike it, as some are quite the workout and not suitable for everyone. Popular picks include Lost Valley, Hemmed in Hollow, Big Bluff, Whitaker Point, and Twin Falls.

Lodging

There are plenty of places to stay near the Buffalo! You can camp, stay in a cabin, visit a lodge, or simply book a hotel room to relax in after a long day of activities. If you plan to make a weekend (or longer) of your trip, definitely try to book your stay in advance so you can have your pick of places to cozy up in!
